Links for Christians
to Work for Social Justice
As followers of Jesus Christ, it is one of our obligations to seek justice, as the verses below demonstrate. These following links are links to Christian organizations that serve those who are victims of oppression, discrimination, and other injustices. There are also links related to issues of poverty and hunger. IVCF-ISM does not necessarily agree with everything on these sites, nor does IVCF-ISM necessarily support everything these organizations do. However, in general, we encourage you to investigate the many good things they do!!! :) See also Links to Help the Poor and Needy
A FEW BIBLE VERSES
"He has told you, O mortal, what is good; and what does the Lord require of you but to do justice, and to love kindness, and to walk humbly with your God?" (Micah 6.8 NRSV)

"...but you completely forget about justice and the love of God. You should tithe, yes, but you should not leave undone the more important things." (Jesus, Luke 11.42 NLT)

Mennonite Economic Development Associates
MEDA's MISSION: The mission of MEDA is to bring hope, opportunity and economic well being to low income people around the world through a business-oriented approach to development.
In the developing world, we do this by offering affordable credit, together with marketing and business training, to low income entrepreneurs. MEDA's target group are the poorest of the economically active in the developing world. These are people who, because they are poor, cannot obtain loans from local banks to start or grow businesses. Each year MEDA creates or sustains about 10,000 jobs around the world.
Another goal of MEDA is to help Christians connect their faith and work in the marketplace. For MEDA, Christianity is not just for Sundays; if our faith means anything it all, it needs to be active every day of the week... But how does that affect the decisions we make as employers and employees? We address this question, and many others, through our publications, annual convention and our Sunday-Monday Connection.

"But when the Son of Man comes in his glory, and all the angels with him, then he will sit upon his glorious throne. All the nations will be gathered in his presence, and he will separate them as a shepherd separates the sheep from the goats. He will place the sheep at his right hand and the goats at his left. Then the King will say to those on the right, 'Come, you who are blessed by my Father, inherit the Kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world. For I was hungry, and you fed me. I was thirsty, and you gave me a drink. I was a stranger, and you invited me into your home. I was naked, and you gave me clothing. I was sick, and you cared for me. I was in prison, and you visited me.' "Then these righteous ones will reply, 'Lord, when did we ever see you hungry and feed you? Or thirsty and give you something to drink? Or a stranger and show you hospitality? Or naked and give you clothing? When did we ever see you sick or in prison, and visit you?' And the King will tell them, 'I assure you, when you did it to one of the least of these my brothers and sisters, you were doing it to me!' " (Jesus, in Matthew 25.31-40 NLT)
