ABOUT IVCF-ISM

IVCF (Inter-Varsity Christian Fellowship) has been helping international students have an enjoyable and meaningful stay in Winnipeg since the 1980's. IVCF’s International Student Ministry (IVCF-ISM) hosts programs for international students across Winnipeg. We have student volunteers at CUSB, University of Winnipeg and University of Manitoba. IVCF-ISM also has chapters across Canada and the United States. IVCF is also a member of the worldwide Christian student movement organization called IFES.

Examples of social and cultural activities that IVCF-ISM offers for international students are: monthly large group events (potluck suppers, annual Thanksgiving Dinner, Large group Bible discussion evenings, sports events, music or games nights etc.). Two four-day events we host are Manitoba International Christmas and the International Student Wilderness Canoe Trip. We also host day trips, retreats and other activities. These activities are great opportunities to practice English, make Canadian and international friends, and share our cultures and beliefs together in a variety of settings.

We welcome ALL international students from any nation, culture, or religion to participate in our activities.

As a Christian organization, our staff and volunteer team also organizes Bible discussion small groups. Anyone is welcome to join these groups – they are for people of any belief or religion or philosophy to come and discuss, share their ideas, practice English and learn about the Bible, God, Jesus and Christian faith. Special presentations and discussions that explain important holidays for Christians (such as Thanksgiving, Christmas and Easter) are also made during the holiday times.
